RE: Currency & Fuel Surcharges  -  Tours Departing After 30th April 2008

 

As you have no doubt noticed in the media recently, the cost of fuel has increased by 30% and the United Kingdom is experiencing a serious currency crisis which has led to a continual devaluation of the British Pound on the international money markets.  

 

At the point when our brochures were produced in August 2007, the commercial exchange rate for the Pound was standing at €1.49 but by March 2008, the Pound had gradually dropped 17% to an all time low rate of €1.25.  View Currency Chart

 

In real terms, the cost of your holiday accommodation alone has increased by a minimum of £5 per night due to nothing other than the falling exchange rate of the Pound.

 

In order to still provide you with the best possible holiday value, we have endeavoured to absorb as much of these increases as possible and have only applied the minimum surcharge possible to your holiday account.  This surcharge is applicable to tours departing after 30th April 2008.

 

Whilst it is extremely unlikely that fuel prices will fall in the foreseeable future, should there be a recovery in the value of the Pound Sterling, beyond the level of which we have already absorbed, we will immediately credit your account with the appropriate proportion of the surcharge.  However, should the value of the pound devalue further to a point where a surcharge would exceed 10% of the holiday value, in compliance with industry regulations, you may cancel your tour without penalty and receive an immediate full refund of all monies paid.    

 

A holiday chart is displayed below outlining the surcharge applicable for each tour.

 

Please accept my sincere apologies for the necessity of having to apply this surcharge and I can assure you that every effort has been made on the part of Hoverland Travel Centre to minimise the amount levied to your account.
